The Southwest Theatre Advisory Committee

I have a vision, not to be cliché, but I have a vision of touring Broadway shows gracing the sight-lines at Southwest Performing Arts Theatre once again.  I have a vision of children from all over the Valley sitting on the cushioned seats watching magic being created on stage.  I have a vision of a concert series filling the night with its melodies.  I have a vision of remaining one of the preferred venues on the Southwestern States touring circuit.  I have a vision of seeing Missoula Children’s Theatre Company spark the interest of young actors, learning and performing kid’s shows for Mom, Dad and the entire family.  I have a vision of Master’s classes presented for our local students by such artists as:  Mark O'Connor, Sebastian Koch and others on the National Endowments for the Arts rosters.  I have a vision to make this building a center of the arts community.  I have a vision of symphony concerts and chorale shows, community theatre productions and school performances all taking place in the same venue.

The Southwest Theatre Advisory Committee is a part of this vision.   This committee is being formed as a guide for future theatrical seasons.  A group to give direction, goals and financial support to the ongoing programs of the Southwest Theatre.  This committee will be a vehicle to pull together the various fine arts groups giving them a venue in which to shine.

I have a vision, but to make this vision a reality I need your help, I need your support, in short, I need your vision. Together our vision can show us the path to the future of the Southwest Performing Arts Theatre. Together we will see our children’s minds and faces light up and become critical thinkers. We will see our young students learn techniques and practices used by seasoned professionals. Together we can enjoy the fruits of the labor of many talented community performers. Together we can enjoy quality, family oriented entertainment without having to leave the valley.

On Tuesday, September 26th,  at 7:00 pm in the Southwest Theatre, I will be hosting an informational meeting for all interested persons regarding the formation of the Southwest Theatre Advisory Committee.

I have a vision, come hear it, come discuss it, come share it. Come make it OUR vision. TOGETHER WE CAN MOVE THE ARTS FORWARD
